Lesser-known spiritual attractions

Nature calms us down like no other. Quietude and peace of mind is what we get when we visit a place of natural beauty. Hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise that several places of worship are built in such awe-inspiring locations. However, we tend to overlook several smaller places of worship that are equally marvelous. Just that, they had never got the kind of attention other bigger religious sites got.  Hence, here are a few lesser known spiritual places for you to explore.

Triloknath Temple

We all know about the spectacular beauty of the Lahaul and Spiti Valley, but few know about the secret temple on the way to Udaipur, Triloknath Temple. What makes the temple even more unique is the fact that it has both the idols of Shiva and Buddha. Buddhist priests are in charge of the temple. Perched on the top of a hill, the place gives a bird’s eye view of the valley including the beautiful river Chenab flowing below. There is a small village around, and you can even buy china ware from the localites selling it nearby. The 8thcentury temple is often considered as the 5th dham in Uttarakhand.

Lakhamandal

About 100 km from Mussoorie, lies Lakha Mandal, a complex of temples that are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The popular belief here is that if you visit this shrine, your bad luck will end. A lot of excavations have been done by ASI, here. The temples are beside the Yamuna river. Garhwali and Himachali architecture have definitely influenced the structure here.
